Uganda Crafts 2000 Ltd was incorporated as a private sector company in 2000. Prior to this, it operated as a non-governmental organization known as Uganda Crafts, founded in 1983 by Marilyn Dodge and Betty Kinene to support widowed and disabled women through income-generating activities.
Today, Uganda Crafts 2000 Ltd works with over 350 artisans across the country, producing high-quality handmade products while embracing Fair Trade principles. Despite privatization, the company continues to uphold its original mission of empowering vulnerable communities through sustainable craft production.
